Sport Magazine was the prime competitor to Sports Illustrated, until the former shuttered in 2000. Publisher A360 Media, acquired the entire intellectual property. Working with Sport Media Entertainment, I’ve art directed and executed a series of 96-page books commemorating major legends and achievements, beginning with the 2022 World Series, and 2023 Superbowl. About half of the books are focused on the seasons, post-seasons and final contests, while the other half feature vintage article and photography from Sports’ archive.
The twist: with championships, we have no idea who would will win, though we only feature the winners in the final product. Additionally, we deliver the final files to the printer 48 hours after games end. Thus, up until the championships are played, we build alternate versions of the same books, usually over the course of 1-2 weeks.
